So I was super excited when Melissa over at Jungle Learners invited me to join her Stop, Swap, & Roll Product Swap!  Such a fun idea!
http://junglelearners.blogspot.com/2015/01/stop-swap-roll-with-giveaway.html
I was lucky to be paired up with Jonelle over at A Place Called Kindergarten!  She has an adorable blog and I love that she shares so many pictures of her classroom.  It looks like a fun place for learning!
http://aplacecalledkindergarten.blogspot.com/
She sent me her Picture Perfect Math activities!  I told her that I love teaching math and would like to use it with my students.  The pack is filled with 10 fabulous activities that use five and ten frames.  I knew it would be "picture perfect" to use with some of my small groups for math.

Here are a few pictures of my students using one of the activities from this pack called "Grab and Count."
For this activity, students have 10 cubes in a bag, grab a handful of cubes, and count them out on a ten frame.  Then they record the number in the hand on the recording sheet.
My students really enjoyed this activity and it was great review for writing numbers!  This would also make a great math station!
Another activity in Jonelle's Picture Perfect Math activities is "More Than Less Than Math Talk."  I was excited to use this with my students because I have been reading Debbie Diller's Math Work Stations book this year and using math talk with my students.
I was working with two students on this activity.  I had each of them pick a card and then we determined which was more.  I had laminated the math talk paper so I used a dry erase marker to write the number on the math talk.  They LOVED reading the math talk once the numbers were filled in!  This activity would also be perfect for a math station.

I made a few updates to my blog this week!!  I absolutely love KG fonts!  I've just recently downloaded a few of them and love them!

Greg from The Kindergarten Smorgasboard was answering questions on his YouTube channel last night live and I tuned in!  I loved hearing about his classroom.  He was also giving away a one year membership to ESGI and $25 to his TpT store.  I decided to go ahead and enter and when he announced live that I had won the ESGI membership I said out loud to my husband, "That's me!!"  So excited to check out this awesome resource!  Anyone else use this?

Speaking of The Kindergarten Smorgasboard...I got this idea for decomposing from his blog!  My students LOVED it!!  I made the decomposing numbers workmat for them and said they were mini hula hoops!!  They are doing amazing with decomposing!

I LOVE using poetry folders in my classroom!  We always learn a new poem and it stays out for the weekThe new poem gets added to their poetry folders and then they take them home to read over the weekend.  We also do buddy reading and on Fridays they buddy read with their poetry folders.  My students love their poetry folders.  They are great for building fluency and confidence with reading.

SO excited for the product swap posts this weekend!  Melissa over at Jungle Learners did an absolutely fantastic job organizing this!  Be sure to follow my blog and check out my post tomorrow to see the product I used from Jonelle over at A Place Called KindergartenI'll have a Rafflecopter contest going to win a copy of her Picture Perfect Math activities AND a $10 TpT gift certificate!!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!  Happy Super Bowl weekend!

Happy Wednesday!  I'm linking up with Miss DeCarbo for my "Wordless Wednesday" picture!

Here is my picture...

That is a picture of the GoNoodle website!  I have just recently started using it with my students and definitely have had the "Why didn't I start using this earlier?!?!" moments many times!

My students LOVE it!  I love that the videos are quick and engaging for the kids.

I am a newbie to GoNoodle so my question for you is:
Do you use GoNoodle with your students?  Do you have any tips/suggestions/favorite videos you use with your students to share?

So that was two questions, but I can't wait to read your responses!!

Have you ever seen this virtual manipulative site??  My teammate shared it with me the other day and it is really neat!  There are lots of different math workmats and manipulatives and more on the site.  The picture above shows just a little bit of what you can do.  If you have an interactive board in your classroom, this is a great resource.  Just click the image to go right to the website!

I'm super excited to be part of the "Product Swap" with Melissa over at Jungle Learners!  I am swapping a product with Jonelle at A Place Called Kindergarten.  I'm so excited to use one of her products with my students!  Be sure to follow my blog because I will be doing a giveaway of her product in the coming weeks!!

https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Martin-Luther-King-Jr-Freebie-Pack-487506
We learned a lot about Martin Luther King, Jr. this week!  If you missed my MLK blog post, check it out here.  My kiddos loved the books we read!  If you want to grab that MLK freebie, click the image to go to Learning 4 Keeps TpT store!

I had been wanting to put labels on my tubs for awhile now and finally I did!  I love how a label makes things look so much more organized - please tell me I'm not the only one that feels that way?!?!?!

I love doing "Math Chats" with my kindergarten friends!  Do you use them with your students?  Just post the picture and have them share about it using their math words.  There is so much powerful math learning that goes along with it.  I usually use them as a warm-up to my lesson and we talk about it on the first day and I record what they say.  Throughout the week we use different math tools such as Rekenreks, number lines, ten frames, or dry erase boards to extend their learning.  An example of this is when we used number lines with the math chat, I would have my students show how many snowflakes there are by clipping 14 on their number line.  Then I would say, "What if I added one more snowflake?"  Then they would clip 15 on their number line.  I can't say enough wonderful things about math chats!!

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!

"The time is always right to do what is right."
Martin Luther King, Jr.

What a great quote!  We are always teaching our students to do the right thing and this would be a great quote to share with your students.

Happy Martin Luther King Day!  My students have been counting down the days until MLK Day on the calendar and I know they will be excited to learn about him this week!

I wanted to share a few of the books I am planning to use with my students this week.  Maybe it will inspire you to use some of them in your classroom!

Magazines for teaching about MLK
I also have a National Geographic Young Explorer magazine that I love reading to my students.  If you haven't seen the National Geographic Young Explorer magazines, they are wonderful and so primary age friendly!   If your school has any extra funds available, you may want to look into ordering subscriptions.  You can also read the magazines online!  They have previous magazine issues online starting from 2009 - the current issue.

Websites for teaching about MLK
BrainPOP has a free MLK video to use with your students!

National Geographic for Kids has some great information and photographs that you could share with your students!
