Five for Friday on Saturday!!

 Here are five of my highlights from the week!

Have you ever seen this virtual manipulative site??  My teammate shared it with me the other day and it is really neat!  There are lots of different math workmats and manipulatives and more on the site.  The picture above shows just a little bit of what you can do.  If you have an interactive board in your classroom, this is a great resource.  Just click the image to go right to the website!     

 I'm super excited to be part of the "Product Swap" with Melissa over at Jungle Learners!  I am swapping a product with Jonelle at A Place Called Kindergarten.  I'm so excited to use one of her products with my students!  Be sure to follow my blog because I will be doing a giveaway of her product in the coming weeks!!

I had been wanting to put labels on my tubs for awhile now and finally I did!  I love how a label makes things look so much more organized - please tell me I'm not the only one that feels that way?!?!?!

I love doing "Math Chats" with my kindergarten friends!  Do you use them with your students?  Just post the picture and have them share about it using their math words.  There is so much powerful math learning that goes along with it.  I usually use them as a warm-up to my lesson and we talk about it on the first day and I record what they say.  Throughout the week we use different math tools such as Rekenreks, number lines, ten frames, or dry erase boards to extend their learning.  An example of this is when we used number lines with the math chat, I would have my students show how many snowflakes there are by clipping 14 on their number line.  Then I would say, "What if I added one more snowflake?"  Then they would clip 15 on their number line.  I can't say enough wonderful things about math chats!!
